Are You Virgin?

I find it fascinating that the word, Virgin had a different meaning in ancient times. It did not mean being physically untouched. 

Being Virgin meant 'Belonging to Oneself'. 

According to Esther Harding, Jungian Psychoanalst, "Being a virgin referred to a subjective state, a psychological attitude not dependent upon a physiological or external fact. It meant being One- in- Herself."

Wow! Plug this into experiences and places in history where that word is made reference to and paradigms will shift!

This is an example when HIStory and HERstory is not synchronistic BUT it does not have to be antagonistic either.
Just like lightness and darkness, His and Her, masculine and feminine can reside harmonioUSly together.

This weekend is quite an amazing moment to experience the essence of Harmonious Sacred Balance in a unique way for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. 

On Solstice we have the masculine energy of the Sun reaching its pinnacle and illuminating us with the longest day of the year filled with the ripening of soul harvests we have planted.

The following evening we will feel the embrace of the Full Strawberry SuperMoon (also called Rose and Sun Moon) in all of her femininity as she is closest she will come to the earth.

As both our Sun and Moon are in epic form - if we see that as a mirror of our internal sun/moon, Masculine/feminine, lightness/darkness allow that those masculine and feminine parts of ourselves to come into fullness - the experience is profoundly elegant. It may feel like those moments within meditation when we are able to have still, thoughtless mind, or when find the balancing point within our standing yoga asanas, or sweet spot on a surfboard, or when complete a creative endeavor and sit back knowing that it is good. That elusive mOMent of ahhhhhhh.

So treat yourself to the experience by holding whatever image or feeling of 'sweet spot' that speaks to you then gift yourself some still time this weekend to breath in the essence. You will feel grateful that you did 

As for me, I will be savoring the Moonrise over the water, sleeping outside, awakening to enjoy my Moon Water Elixer, then creating a beauty-full day.

Organic vs. Conventional Veggies

There is so much conversation around food quality and the best choices we can make for optimal health. Organic vs. Conventional is one of the basic decisions we have before us. We have pesticides, GMO's, fertilizers-so many unnatural elements to navigate through. It can be overwhelming to many and some people are still totally unaware.

I tend to advocate the good, better, best principle. Shifting the energy we put into our bodies is a process like everything else. How that pertains to the conventional vs. organic conversation is quite simply this....

For those who consume a lot of processed foods in this moment-to switch to any fruits and vegetables is good, for those who already eat veggies, its better to eat more organic and for those who are able it is BEST to go organic because there is a dramatic difference in the nutritional panel of these two groups.

Remember ~ Our food is the source of either ease or dis-ease in our body so choose well. AND as always, Be gentle with yourself

For those who follow the path of Huna or are fortunate enough to live in Hawai'i, it is common to use the word Aloha to say hello and goodbye, but the meaning goes much deeper. Aloha also holds within itself all one needs to know to interact rightfully in the natural world. This practice is sometimes referred to as "The Aloha Spirit" or "The Way of Aloha".

Great Tule Tree

I leaned back against that strong trunk. I was deeply connected to the earth through Tule’s roots. I felt capable and strong. Tule’s branches were filled with vibrant green leaves and they waved confidently overhead.

I noticed a family of magpies perched in and protected by Tule’s branches. Just above them, squirrels hopped and sprinted throughout the middle branches. And there were ants and other insects swirling on his trunk. Tule was filled with animal and insect life.

Then a strong wind came and it blew and blew, until nothing remained in Tule’s branches or on his trunk. He stood alone with only himself. It was then that I heard his voice. I actually heard the voice of Tule. It was a deep, steady voice just as I had imagined.

"Even I get heavy, my hermano,” the voice said. “Even I need time to strengthen and nourish myself so that I may be of service to others.”

Then Tule took a deep breath. I saw his trunk contract as he breathed in; then he exhaled and his trunk and branches expanded. Within seconds, the birds and squirrels and vibrancy returned. All was well."
